She never intended to take a husband...

Scotland, 1817

The Duke of Manchester's sister, Lady Sarah Lacey, always abides by the rules of etiquette. Fate, however, has no such confines. On a journey to the Scottish Highlands, Lady Sarah is set upon by misfortune-leaving her without carriage or chaperone, and left to the mercy of a kind and handsome gentleman. Whom (in order to secure a room at an inn) she announces is her husband.

When she proclaims they're married in public, Professor Braeden McKinnon can't bring himself to correct the lovely Lady Sarah. After all, her reputation would be ruined. Nor can he tell her that her proclamation is not only legally binding in Scotland, but sharing a room is considered to be an act of consummation.

Now they are bound together until death do they part-even if Sarah has no intention of becoming any man's wife.

This is the sixth book in the Marriage Mart Mayhem series, but the first one I've read. I can't believe I've never encountered Callie Hutton's stories before, being the romance buff that I am. This book is beyond charming with a dash or two of steam thrown in for good measure.

Lady Sarah has plans for her future. None of which include a husband or children. She has been writing in a journal for years, except they weren't her experiences she was conjuring, but those of fictional romances. On the break of stardom, to be considered an astounding colleague with the likes of Jane Austen, she is not willing to give it up for anything or anyone.

Professor Braeden McKinnon of the University of Edinburgh changes her plans. The dashing Professor has it all, good looks, family connections, and a brain he uses on a regular basis. When Lady Sarah announces them as husband and wife to get a room at an inn, he doesn't let on that her declaration is legally binding in Scotland.

Being an author myself, I felt myself siding with Sarah's decisions to continue on with her plans of returning to London once her book was published. Braeden states throughout the novel he will be going to Rome for a dig if he is chosen. I really didn't see any problem with that eventual outcome. As the story progressed after their marriage, I could tell heartache would be fast and swift for the both of them and had me shedding a few tears.

As this was my first experience with Hutton's writing, I fell in love with her flowing writing style. I loved the way both of the characters came to realize how the work they had devoted themselves for so many years wasn't all there was in life. The change for both Sarah and Braeden is slow, but well worth it. I cannot wait to go back and read the first five novels as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks so much to Callie Hutton and Entangled Publishing for gifting me with a copy of The Highlander's Accidental Marriage in exchange for an honest review.

Rise of Alpha - 1st book of the Prodian Journey Trilogy

~~EXCERPT~~
“What’s the medical term for your jumping illness?”

I was glad the question came up right away. “It’s called Tourette’s Syndrome.”

“What is that?”

The question plagued me wherever I went, and I had the answer down pat. Explaining it one more time wouldn’t kill me. “The sudden and involuntary tics and vocalizations are byproducts of an abnormal metabolism of my brain’s neurotransmitters.” I shrugged.

“Wow… sounds heavy.”

Yep, it was a big issue for a teenager, something I wouldn’t ever sign up for. “If my involuntary cursing and jerking doesn’t bother you, then I don’t have a problem being your partner. I’m just trying to protect you from a possible heart attack. In my experience, people get nervous being around me.” I leaned against the cushion, feeling good now that I’d gotten her all prepared. If my fever was making me delirious with happiness, then I wouldn’t mind the mercury spiking up a bit more.

“You sound like you’ve been hiding for much too long, Curly.”

It would have sounded better if she used babe or sweetie, but I’d settle for anything. “It comes with the territory, but let’s not talk about me anymore. Why don’t you tell me what you want to do for our photography project?” This was a ploy to get her talking so I could keep listening to her voice.

Shannon’s eyes rolled up to the ceiling. “Um, I like taking pictures of moving subjects rather than portraits. I would love it if you would pose for me. You’re very interesting, Mexican jumping beans and all.” She giggled.

I glared in mock disapproval at her attempt to make light of my situation. “Hell, no. I’m not comfortable in my own skin, let alone with allowing someone to take my picture for everyone to make fun of.”

I stood up, but my legs wobbled. Shannon was quick to get up and place her arm around my waist.

Holy smokes, batman. She touched me!

“You’re such a dork! I’m not kidding. Haven’t you checked yourself in the mirror?” she asked, helping me back down onto the sofa.

I felt like a total loser and had no idea what to say. Look at myself in the mirror? I’d been doing that for the last seventeen years and never liked what I saw—blond hair, dull blue eyes, and average build.

Interesting was a word I’d never apply to myself.

Freakish, yeah. Right on.

BEAUTY AND THE BOSS by Diane Alberts
Release Date: November 16, 2015
A Modern Fairytale from Entangled Publishing: Indulgence

Beauty is about to tame her beast...

Researcher Maggie Donovan has no luck with men, and it doesn't help that she can't keep her eyes off of her sexy boss - the one everyone else in the office calls The Beast. Relationships in the office are forbidden. So no one is more surprised than Maggie when she pretends to be his fiancée to save him during a difficult situation. Not only has she put her job on the line, but the future of the company.

Billionaire Benjamin Gale III doesn't believe in love or romance, but the look on his mother's face when Maggie tells her that she's his fiancée is worth millions. Instead of firing her for her insubordination, he goes along with the ruse. In his arms-and in his bed-she'd be everything he could ever want…which is why he can't have her.

But if he doesn't let her go, they'll lose everything…

Beauty and The Beast is one of my favorite fairytales, so I'm always intrigued by stories with a modern twist. I was not disappointed by Diane Alberts take on the tale!

Maggie Donavan is a bright and beautiful researcher working for a beast of a boss, Benjamin Gale III. She is the one person in the company who gets to see the real man because they are both able to let down their guard around each other. A twist of fate brings Maggie to announce to Benjamin's mother that the colleagues are actually engaged. Mrs. Gale is none to pleased with the announcement which gives Benjamin a great amount of pleasure. The couple continue with the farce, but Benjamin is more than happy to make it real.

While keeping up with their fake engagement, we see how much Maggie struggles to let Benjamin in. When she tries to keep him at a distance, it only makes them want each other that much more. I love the way Alberts describes their kisses! It is as if each time their lips touch, a cataclysmic event occurs. Their chemistry is off the charts while the threat of destroying what they are creating looms.

One of my favorite parts of the story is how Maggie can tease the Beast. She calls him Benji at times, which drives him mad, but she does it anyway. A true storyteller knows when to make you laugh and when to make you cry. Diane Alberts created the perfect moments for both and still pulled out a fairytale happily ever after.

Thanks so much to Diane Alberts, Entangled Publishing, and Inskslinger PR for gifting me with a copy of Beauty and The Boss in exchange for an honest review. If you enjoy this story check out some of Diane Alberts other works on Goodreads..
