I've been busy these past few weeks. I'm enraptured by the Outlander Series. I never thought I could take on the 800+ page books, but I read the first two in a week and a half and I'm already 68% into book three. Plus, I have some really great books coming up for my Author on Author Book Review Series.
Dragonfly in Amber(Outlander Series Book #2)
The second book of the Outlander saga... For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones... about a love that transcends the boundaries of time... and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the danger of his. Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire's spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart. • Goodreads

Inferno of Love(Hometown Heros #2)
Review Date: April 11th, 2014
What happens when your soul mate returns after twelve long years – and has no idea who you are?
Aubrey Anderson is a pediatric occupational therapist who’s spent the last twelve years rebuilding her life after a car accident killed her boyfriend and crushed her legs. A series of strokes on the way to the hospital left her with no memory of either the accident or the weeks leading up to it, so when she starts having nightmares she can’t explain, she decides to return to the scene to see if she can piece together her past.
Finn Cavallo is Lindsey Point's resident playboy, owner of a popular bar, and hero of the Cove Fire, when he pulled seven people from a burning building twelve years earlier. But his flirtatious personality hides the heart of a man who lost his soul mate the night of the fire. When Aubrey walks into his bar with no memory of who he is or what they had, he’s stunned – and it takes everything he has not to tell her about the summer they spent falling in love. It's only a matter of time before bar conversation turns to passion on the beach and more.
But when a series of events raises suspicion that Finn himself might have started the Cove Fire, Aubrey is forced to do whatever she can to discover the truth about both their pasts, including going back to the spot where it all began.
"Amy stared at the portrait dancing in front of her. She reached out to grab hold of it, steadying it. Or at least making it shake in tune with the rest of her body.
The image could have almost been a mirror. But more disturbing was the fact that it looked like another picture she had. A photo. The only image she had ever had of her mother not faded by time and memory.
Taken by a helpful nurse at the hospital just after Amy was born, she recognized the same features as the ones she had secretly stared at for hours after she’d been orphaned. The same red hair and green eyes sparkled back at her. Even the lone dimple on her left cheek.
It was her mother. Amelia Price.
And she was wanted for murder."
As far as Amy Price knew, she was just a normal girl from Los Angeles. An orphan, left alone after the death of her mother years ago. Little did she know the truth of her mother's past. Nor did she know that she would soon come face to face with it. Sent back in time to the past her mother escaped, Amy must either face what her mother couldn't, or find a way back home. Though the handsome man intent on seeing justice met isn't helping any.

Longing for a return to the freedom they shared when he thought her a commoner, she does her best to live up to his—and society's—expectations, but she's only willing to compromise so far. Being kept in the dark is no longer an option. As boisterous thunder rumbled throughout the land and a torrent of rain pounded away on the soil, millions of sparks of reddish lightning brightened up the night sky.
It was our season for tempest storms; a solemn token of the evil that had penetrated the realm and of an oath that has yet to be fulfilled. A constant reminder of the dangerous circumstances we were all in.
The Kingdom of Aselaira was in peril.
Every one of its citizens was vulnerable, defenseless, and hopeless. Havoc and bloodshed permeated the land. The stone walls of Castle Edhel-N’dor, which were once beauteous and majestic, were deteriorating inside and out. There was no one left to see to its upkeep.

As a servant in the castle, one must keep to your duties or stay in your chambers, and above all else slave after the needs of the royal family, especially the King.
I tried not to despair, as this was my everyday life. I was vulnerable, defenseless, but with every ounce of my being I refused to remain hopeless. Even as I was a servant in the castle, I had my special ability; my gift that I kept hidden. With much misery and sorrow, I kept Calen - my Fëa - hidden as well. Together, we used these abilities to find hope.
We used these abilities to find him.
