At the beginning of February, I found FatMumSlim's blog. They host this photo a day contest for anyone to participate in. I looked it over and thought it might be fun. As the month progressed, I opened my mind to all the different things I could include. There were several little moments I might have missed out on commermorating if not for this contest. (Day 16 & 22 are my favorites) These are all my photos for February that I have posted on my Tumblr. You can follow me everyday there or I will do a wrap up at the end of each month here on my blog. I'm ready for March.

Day 1 - You.
This is me wrapped up getting ready for a snowball fight.

Day 2 - Favorite
I love to bake and have many favorites. Most of them contain chocolate and peanut butter, like these cookies. PS these are even gluten free.

Day 3 - Orange
I am making lots of things out of paracord lately. Many of them contain this lovely orange. I have hundreds of feet of it.

 Day 4 - Childhood
When I was growing up, I hated Barbies. I was more Star Wars figures and Legos. I love that I can play with Legos again with my son. This is part of a set from the new Lego Movie line.

Day 5 - Square
What is better than cheese crackers and soup on a cold day? Not much.

Day 6 - C is for...
Chicken and Corn!

Day 7 - Utensil
Power of the Pen

Day 8 - Water

My daughter loves snow angel time

Day 13 - Perfect
A warm and colorful pair of socks for my tired feet.

Lex Talionis (n.)- The law of retaliation, whereby a punishment resembles the offense committed in kind and degree.

ADRTwo wrongs. One right. He met her under the worst circumstances. She was still married. To the man who'd stolen from his company. But none of that would matter, because Chase would have her. At any cost.

To Chase Blaine, it really was that simple. Douglas Colton had stolen millions from Chase’s company. He had to pay. Chase had every intention of cornering the bastard and making sure he ended up in jail.

Then he came face-to-face with Douglas’s wife, Aria. One look at her changed all his plans, warping them into a much darker and perverse plot to get his revenge.

He would offer Douglas his freedom...in exchange for a single date with his wife.

To a man like Chase, a man that hadn’t truly felt emotions in a long time, Aria’s presence soon became more addicting than a drug. A problem considering that she might never forgive him for blackmailing her, despite the fact that at times she seems just as unwillingly fascinated by him as he is by her.

Aria Colton fell in love at sixteen and ten years later finds herself married to a cheat who stole over three million dollars from his employer. Chase Blaine hasn't felt any real emotion since the death of his mother when he was five. Yet when Chase goes to confront Aria's husband and sets eyes on her for the first time, the yearning for her is undeniable.

I went into this story thinking that Chase would ask Aria to spend one night with him and he would forgive her husband's transgressions. I imagined Aria would comply and the sexy times would begin. I have never been so happy to have been wrong. So, so wrong.

Even though Aria kicks her whoring hubby, Douglas, to the curb, she still fights against the overwhelming attraction to Chase. I love that she didn't just give in, she fought Chase with everything she had. The intense desire was no where near one sided. Chase craved her like no other singular thing that ever existed in his life.

He felt like a caged animal. She was just as he’d expected—and a million things more.  He’d never been this desperate to fuck a woman. Never been so tempted by just the smell of her.

A Debt Repaid ~ Chapter 16

Even though I desperately wanted Aria and Chase to give into each other, the angst was brilliantly written. The staggering hunger these two experienced as the story progressed was conveyed in such a way that I could literally feel the heat coming off the pages. The end will have you panting for more. Good thing Blanco has promised to continue this story with Damaged Owed and I can't wait for more Chase and Aria.

Thanks so much to N. Isabelle Blanco and MAE Book Tours for granting me a copy of A Debt Repaid in exchange for an honest review.

nisabelleblancoN. Isabelle Blanco was born in Queens, NY (USA). At the age of three, due to an odd fascination with studying her mother's handwriting, she began to read and write. By the time she'd reached kindergarten, she had an extensive vocabulary and her obsession with words began to bleed into every aspect of her life.

An avid reader in her teens, her fascination with Japanese anime eventually led her to the universe of fan fiction, which became her on-again, off-again hobby for the next ten years. During that time she amassed a following of fans that, by her own admission, she would never be able to live without. It was those fans who encouraged her to step beyond the fan fiction realm and try her talent in the publishing world.

N. Isabelle Blanco now has three novellas and two full-length novels under her belt, and spends her days working as an author, web programmer, marketer, and graphic designer. That is when she isn't handling her "spawn", as she calls her son, and brainstorming with him about his future career as a comic book illustrator.

Synopsis

Mallory Durham has been left behind and it is making her feel less like an adult and more like an afterthought.

Divorce, sickness, educational aspirations being shattered, and her Aunt Sam moving into her home, have made Mal's life nearly unrecognizable to her.

When Tucker Scott re-enters her life along with his band, will they offer what she needs to once again find her voice and self confidence or will it strip her of it even more?

Told through the dual voices of Mallory as she navigates her new world, and Aunt Sam's letters to her niece, Beatless tells the story of two women at very different points in their life, fighting the same battles; proving that no matter what age a person is, there are always lessons to be learned.

Excerpt

The Scott house was less than five miles from mine, but it could have been in a completely different world. The neighborhood was older, clearly didn’t have a Homeowners Association, and the houses themselves looked like they were in dire need of repair. His was a brown ranch that had an exposed basement, which I quickly learned was where he had all his musical instruments set up. It was a sweet deal because he’d soundproofed the room with egg crates, the whole back wall was filled with band posters, and there were a few guitars mounted to the studs above his keyboard.
He seated himself in front of it, turning on the power and shuffling the sheet music that had accumulated there. “What’s your vocal register?”
“I don’t have one anymore, remember?”
“We can change that.” Light notes plinked out from beneath his fingertips and he swiveled in his seat to regard me carefully. “I know you’ve got it in you. You have to believe it too or it won’t work.”
“I don’t want to sing in front of you.” The thought alone was making me want to vomit. What if I was as terrible as I imagined? I’d only been singing along to the radio in my room, but it was breathy and sparse, and honestly, it hurt a little if I went too high.
His eyes softened and he patted the seat next to him. “Then sing with me.”

Transcendence

It’s said that women and men are from two different planets when it comes to communication, but how can they overcome the obstacles of prehistoric times when one of them simply doesn’t have the ability to comprehend language?

Ehd’s a caveman living on his own in a harsh wilderness. He’s strong and intelligent, but completely alone. When he finds a beautiful young woman in his pit trap, it’s obvious to him that she is meant to be his mate. He doesn’t know where she came from; she’s wearing some pretty odd clothing, and she makes a lot of noises with her mouth that give him a headache. Still, he’s determined to fulfill his purpose in life – provide for her, protect her, and put a baby in her.

Elizabeth doesn’t know where she is or exactly how she got there. She’s confused and distressed by her predicament, and there’s a caveman hauling her back to his cavehome. She’s not at all interested in Ehd’s primitive advances, and she just can’t seem to get him to listen. No matter what she tries, getting her point across to this primitive, but beautiful, man is a constant – and often hilarious – struggle.
With only each other for company, they must rely on one another to fight the dangers of the wild and prepare for the winter months. As they struggle to coexist, theirs becomes a love story that transcends language and time.

Looking down at my mate, my fingers reach out and brush strands of her beautiful long hair away from her forehead. The softness distracts me from her sorrow, and I pinch a few of the strands between my fingers to hold them out and look more closely. The firelight brings out the slight tinges of red in a few of the strands, but it is the texture that intrigues me the most.

As I look back at her face, I can see she is still frightened. Releasing her hair, I reach up and let the tips of my fingers touch the tear stains on her cheeks. I feel like crying for her—lost and alone out on the steppes. I touch slowly her cheek and jaw before my hand finds her shoulder and the incredibly smooth tunic covering her. Like her hair, I find it fascinating. I have never felt anything as smooth and soft. It’s lightweight, too—as if it were made from strands of a spider’s web.

I stroke her hair again to feel the difference between its softness and the texture of the clothing and find myself again fascinated by how soft and beautiful it is. I know I am very lucky to have found such an attractive mate though I am really just thrilled to have another person with me. As I take a deep breath, I inhale the scent of her hair, and the combination of sweet fruit and possibly some kind of flower confuses me—it is still too early in the season for buds to be blooming. Pulling her close to me, I run my nose from her hairline to her temple.

Definitely fruit.

She tenses again, and I’m reminded that she is sad and frightened about the loss of her people. I look into her eyes and tilt my head to the side, wanting her to know I understand. I touch my nose to her temple again—gently bumping her skin in a show of companionship.

Her tongue darts over her lips, and she makes her rhythmic sounds again. She is not as loud this time, but the noise is strange and unfamiliar to me. I continue to watch her closely until she stops making the sounds and lets out a long breath. She sniffs and turns away from me again but seems to have settled down somewhat.

I lay my head next to hers and strengthen my grip around her body. I keep my eyes open and watch the entrance to the cave until I hear her breathing slowly and regularly with sleep. Only when I’m sure she is no longer awake do I allow myself to do the same.
