Unable to live her life without answers, Aubrey Anderson returns to the place of the accident that robbed her of weeks of memories. Not remembering a soul in Lindsey Point, Aubrey sets out to learn what she can of the town and the residents, especially a bartender named Finn.
Finn is floored the day Aubrey walks back into his life. A rush of emotions from her sudden appearance comes to a shocking stand still when Finn realizes she doesn't remember him. Aubrey is instantly attracted to Finn, but has no idea that he was/is the love of her life.
I love the whole setup of this story of how Aubrey's amnesia brought her to Lindsey Point. I felt awful for Finn at the beginning since Aubrey had no memory of him. As I read on, I realized Finn was given a second chance at a first impression with Aubrey. He was getting to fall in love with her all over again.
Then there is the mystery element of the story. Aubrey's accident and the death of Aaron, whom she thought was her boyfriend, is a mystery she is determined to unravel. Boniface brings the cast of characters from the first book in the series, Beacon of Love, to help Aubrey on her journey to reclaim the lost weeks of her life.
I adored Boniface's portrayal of Aubrey. The character faced great physical challenges after her accident that would have left many moping in their wheelchair. She reveals such strength in her physical recovery, yet vulnerability in her emotional one. The depiction of Finn had my heart breaking in moments. He had suffered the loss of Aubrey for twelve years and kept a secret to protect himself and his family. At many times, I wished I could just pull him in for a hug.
In so many mysteries I read or see in movies, I can pick out the "villain". Though, in this story, I never saw this one coming. Boniface kept me guessing until the final reveal, a true triumph.
The combination of suspense and romance kept me turning the pages as fast as possible. This is one book that you want to read in on sitting because you can bear to wait a moment to know what happens next. In all honesty, I wish I could give it more than five stars. I just love how the story enraptured me and I hope to read more of Allie Boniface and the people of Lindsey Point.
