Waitress Darcy Penn is the smart, sensible type—flirting with the extremely cute guy in the bar just isn't her usual style. As for ending up in his hotel room? Definitely not! Sneaking out while he's in the bathroom to avoid the post-sex awkwardness? Much more like it
If Darcy had stuck around, Jeff Norton could have told her about their "epic latex fail." So he shouldn't be quite so shocked when months later, Darcy turns up at his classy L.A. office and throws up in his wastepaper basket. She's got a bad case of morning sickness, and she's here to find out what he's going to do about it!

This title caught my eye and I instantly knew I wanted to read it. Kelly released Waking Up Married in December of 2012. I read it shortly after that and loved the way Kelly started with the happily and got things to the ever after.
Waking Up Pregnant surrounds the fated trip friends Connor and Jeff took to Las Vegas after Connor's broken engagement. Connor ended up married to Megan the same night Jeff met Darcy and had a whirlwind evening that ended in an "epic latex fail". You don't have to read Connor and Megan's story to enjoy this one, but I would recommend it just because I enjoyed the story and the friendship Jeff and Connor share.
This story begins in the present with Darcy vomiting in Jeff's wastepaper basket, then goes back three months to the night of conception. This was no drunken wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am. These two incredibly complex characters have a genuine connection from the moment Jeff notices Darcy's carefully constructed vainer slip. Just the sound of her honest laughter sends Jeff into a tailspin he wasn't looking for and never expected.
Once the vomiting in Jeff's office has ceased, Kelly takes the story in a direction I never would've imagined. I loved that surprise and the circumstances it caused for Jeff and Darcy because of it. Darcy's independent nature and Jeff's hesitancy to fully commit make for some frustrating, yet endearing situations. The introduction of Jeff's mother, Gail, and how she fits into the dynamic of Jeff and Darcy's relationship was an engaging choice and worked out perfectly. This story firmly sits on the extra steamy side of the Romance genre as Jeff and Darcy attempt to achieve their fairy tale.
Thank you so much to Mira Lyn Kelly, Harlequin, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this story in exchange for an honest review.
USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly grew up in the Chicago area and earned her degree in Fine Arts from Loyola University. She met the love of her life while studying abroad in Rome, Italy, only to discover he’d been living right around the corner from her for the previous two years. Having spent her twenties working and playing in the Windy City, she’s now settled with her husband in rural Minnesota where their four beautiful children provide an excess of action, adventure, and entertainment.
With writing as her passion and inspiration striking at the darnedest times, Mira can always be found with a notebook at the ready. (More than once she’s been caught by the neighbors, covered in grass clippings, scribbling away atop the compost container!)
When she isn’t reading, writing, or running to keep up with the kids, she loves watching movies, blabbing with the girls, and cooking with her husband and friends.
