Now for the note attached, let's see here...

1. Thank and link to the person who nominated you.
2. Share seven random facts about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 deserving blog buddies.
4. Contact those buddies to congratulate them.

Easy enough.

Thank you to S.J. Wist who passed this award onto me. I'm still fumbling my way through the blogging world, so I'm so happy somebody thinks I'm doing it right.

7 random facts about me: (Too many to mention, but I'll narrow it down to 7.)

I hate people touching my ears. I always have and I don't really know why.

-- My favorite time of day is night. During the day, I usually keep the shades drawn and lights low.

I have selective hearing. I often hear things and laugh, then realize that I heard wrong.

-- My fear of heights stems from being stuck on the first hill of a rollercoaster by myself when I was 12 years old. I was in the second to last car and I felt that I was dangling for 45 minutes.

-- I worked as a movie theater projectionist while I was in college. I loved it, but my boss was a jerk at the time I left.

-- My favorite food is Calamari, fried or grilled, however I can get it.

-- My hubby and I met at a Mexican restaurant on St. Patrick's Day. No green beer that year.

I am so very happy to announce that "Redemption" is officially on sale in paperback and eBook formats. It has been an incredible journey to get to this point but the story is not even close to being over. The last sentence of the novel says it all. "It's time to begin."

It's been a busy few weeks here on the blog and I hope you've enjoyed all the developments. I reorganized the Character Bios page and there is now a slide show of character pictures at the bottom of this page. I've been making the rounds talking about "Redemption". I got the opportunity to be interviewed by Lady J on The Eclectic Artist Cave on FateRadio.com, we are planning the blog tour in June, and I'm connecting with bloggers through Book Blogs. I'm having so much fun getting to know so many people and learning new things.

I also want to announce that myself, T.M. Hobbs (author of Wings of Fate) and Joey Mills (author of Crowe) will be at SoonerCon in Oklahoma City, OK June 3rd-5th, 2011. Any one in the area, please stop by. We would all love to meet you. I hope to have some other chances to meet with you all this summer. I will let you know when things get scheduled.

It's going to be a great summer. I hope you enjoy "Redemption" and get to chat with me about it soon. Check the Order tab on how to purchase my books. I'll be adding additional links as they become available.

Happy Reading!

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff at The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House, the eBook version of REDEMPTION is now available! It's happening a few days early and I couldn't be happier. Even better, CL Parker's SUPERNOVA eBook is also available. I know you all can't see me, but I'm totally doing my happy dance for me, CL, and all the people at TWCS for making this early release possible.

Meet Renee

Click on the Characters tab and meet Renee. She was so much fun to write. She originally had a very small role in the story, but when my friend, Tiffany, was reading a very early draft, she fell in love with the character. So I worked my magic and made Renee what she is today.

Exciting Writing Exercise

1
COMMENT
I've been listening to a show on FateRadio for the past week called The Eclectic Artist Cave. Today's guest was writer/genius, Jack Remick. He talked about a technique of writing that he absolutely swears by. Basically you sit and write for a predetermined period of time with no periods or quotations. Just write a huge run on sentence about whatever you want, an event in a characters life, how they feel, an experience they are living. It is something I had heard of but never really had it explained the way Jack explained it. It's so simple, but brings out such clarity. You just let it all out, don't go back, don't edit while writing. You just write for the time you've set, then stop. Some of the listeners took it upon ourselves to do this exercise with Jack and the host, Lady J. I have been super focused on the character I have added to the Characters Bio list today. The Vegas Mystery Man's feelings don't entirely come out in this novel and I want to make sure he gets his say in the next one. So, I'm going to keep trying to do this writing exercise as I work my way through “Revisited”. What I write for the exercise was very spoil worthy, so I did change just a few things for the purpose of posting here. I wanted to share with you what I came up with in those 5 minutes today to give a little example. It's written in first person hopefully to give it that extra oomph.

I am the Vegas Mystery Man and I'm one of the bad guys of Redemption I never knew what my life was supposed to be like I didn't know what the black flames meant He taught me He told me how to live what I needed to do to survive I needed her She would make everything clean and clear Lily Lily Lily once I found her I knew I could never let her go It was primal an instinct that I never knew existed in me I love her I crave her I need her she's my world my blood my bones every cell that lives in my body is because of her I don't care about the others They only cause hate but she is love joy peace waterfalls into my heart I need her to stop it to stop the beating to be together for eternity she is the only one who can make it happen I know what they want me for They want me to kill her They think it will be the end They think if I do what they want me to she will cease to exist but I know my Lily She will find a way She will live on She will be mine and I will dive into her beauty and love Once I'm hers she will never be able to forget me I'll be in her mind I will be in her soul

Whoa, I still get some gooseflesh just reading it. For any writers, if you haven't tried it, just try once and see how it feels. For more on the technique and Jack, check out his blog with his writing partner, Robert Ray. http://weekendnovelist.com/website_rewrite/weekend_novelist_blog/

Happy writing!

Welcome to my blog! This is the first of hopefully many posts. Take a minute to look around and click on all the pages. The My Books page gives you a summary of each of my books and also has the “Redemption” trailer. The Characters page is where I will be posting character bios from all my stories. I will be posting “Redemption” bios over the next couple of weeks starting tomorrow, May 13th, with Lily Edwards. The Out-takes page is where I'll be posting just that, out-takes. “Lies Inside” was originally 30,000 words longer than the published version, so I will be posting some of my favorite things that didn't make the cut. I'm also working on a back story out-take for “Redemption” called “The Gideon Complex”. The Order page has a list of links where you can find and purchase the books. The Reviews page is where I have reviews for the books, including the first “Redemption” review that I saw for the first time today. If you would like to include yours, just let me know. You can do that with the info on my Contact page. I welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions. I will be doing a blog tour June 13th to the 24th. If you would like to be included, contact Donna at donna@thewriterscoffeeshop.com. My sidebar also has some goodies on it. I have links to my FaceBook, Twitter, and Goodreads as well as My Musical Inspiration playlists.

Now that you know my blog a little, let me give you a glimpse at me. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I have hundreds of handwritten stories sitting in storage containers from my childhood. Some good, some...not so much. As I matured, so did my writing. My topics and story lines became more intricate and I was able to broaden my mind.

Once I hit high school, my writing began to tapper off due to being bitten...hard. The acting bug took a strong hold and has yet to let go. I had been taking vocal lessons for a few years at that time so it was off to give musical theater a try. My first big role came in the form of Miss Lynch in the musical “Grease”. I went on to play roles in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Into the Woods”, and “The Sound of Music”.

Through all those experiences my life was set on a path, a path that took more than a few turns and hundreds of bumps and potholes. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Even though my writing took a backseat to life for many years, I was able to bring my experiences to it and become the writer I am today. If my life hadn't sunk into those potholes, I wouldn't have been able to rise up to meet my husband and create our two beautiful children with him. So, no regrets.

I am excited at this point in my life that I have the chance to write and share it with the rest of the world. I actually began writing my novel, “Redemption”, in 2008, but suffered some writer's block midway through. To work it all out, I set it aside and began to write a very different genre with “Lies Inside”. Writing two very different genres, I was able to stretch my imagination in ways I never knew I was capable of. I was lucky enough to find a story that was posted on The Writer's Coffee Shop website and let's just say the rest is history. I started working with the new publishing house in May 2010 and released “Lies Inside” on December 30th, 2010. Now, I'm just a few weeks away from the release of “Redemption” and I'm on cloud nine. It has been a lot of hard work, sweat, and more than a few tears, but I believe the journey has been more than worth it. I plan to continue on with my writing with the “Redemption” sequel, “Revisited”, and at least one more in the series after that. I have an idea box full with other possible stories. As long as you all keep reading, I'll keep writing.

In the next two weeks, watch for my new posts on the character bios page and other thoughts everyday leading up to the “Redemption” release on May 26th. I have a few ideas for giveaways in the works, so stay tuned for those. Until then, happy reading!
